DPM Tournament Rules

Game Format:

  • There will be a 5 minute warm up before each game

  • Three 15 minute stop periods. (Run time in the 3rd period if a team is up by 5 or more. If the spread goes back to 4 or less the game goes back to stop time)

  • Ice will be resurfaced after every two periods so please check with the game before you to see when the ice was resurfaced.

  • Each Round Robin Game is worth 2 points. 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie

  • There will be no overtime in Round Robin Games

 

Tiebreaker if Teams are Tied after the Round Robin

Tie between 2 teams

  1. Who won the head to head game

  2. The team with the most wins in the round robin

  3. The team with the higher goal average - Total number of goals for divided by the total number of goals for and against. Ex. 10 for and 4 against - 10/14 = 0.714

  4. The team that scored first in the game between the two teams

  5. If still tied then a coin toss will determine the winner

 

Tie between 3 or more teams

  1. The point record established in the games among the tied teams

  2. The team with the most wins among the tied teams

  3. The team with the best goal average in games played between each other - Total number of goals for divided by the total number of goals for and against. Ex. 10 for and 4 against - 10/14 = 0.714

  4. The team with the fewest goals against in all round robin games

  5. The team with the most goals for in all round robin games

  6. If still tied then a coin toss will determining the winner

 

Playoff Games

  • If a playoff game ends in a tie there will be a 5:00 minute, 3 on 3 sudden death overtime. 

  • Penalties assessed in regulation will carry into overtime.

  • At no time will a team have fewer than three skaters during overtime

  • If the game is still tied after overtime there will be a shootout. Each team will select 3 skaters to shoot for a 3 round shootout. The home team can decide if they want to shoot first or last.

  • If still tied after the 3 rounds then the shootout will continue to a single round shootout until a winner is declared. 

  • A player can not shoot twice unless every player on their roster has already shot. 

 

Other Rules:

  • Home and away teams are listed on the schedule.  Please bring dark for home and white for away jerseys.

  • Please register your team a minimum of 45 minutes prior to your first game.

  • Fans are expected to promote good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

  • All Hockey Canada rules apply.
